Processes, Shaping and Intensification

The objectives of this research theme are to understand, control and intensify processes and flows involving industrial or model fluids with complex rheological behaviour. Our approach is to make the link between process control and an understanding of the underlying fundamental phenomena linked to flows and their stability. To achieve this, one of the keys to success is to identify the mechanisms involved on the relevant length and time scales with respect to the structure of the materials, their flows and the external stresses applied during the processes (shear or elongation flows, pressure fields, ultrasound fields, concentration gradients or thermal gradients).
