The Rheology and Processes laboratory is a Joint Research Unit (UMR5520) involving the CNRS (Engineering Pole, sections 10, 9 and 11), Grenoble Alpes University, Physics, Engineering, Materials (PEM) research centre, and Grenoble INP - UGA , Graduate schools of Engineering and Management.
We are a stakeholder in the "Galileo Galilei Grenoble" (Fed3G) research federation, on which the LabEx Tec 21 is based, and we are one of the five founding teams of the Institut Carnot PolyNat, whose aim is to develop and exploit functional bio-based materials.
Within the "Rheology, Processes and their Intensification" (RhéPI) team, the laboratory develops multidisciplinary activities in the fields of rheology, complex fluids, soft matter and process engineering. The approaches are mainly experimental, with a component of theoretical and numerical modelling at different scales. Applications concern the industrial sector (biorefinery, agri-food, etc.), the environment and health.
With a technical team comprising a design office and a mechanical workshop, an administrative team, a Rheology and Coupled Physical Measurements platform and a microscopy platform, our research activity focuses on three areas:
-
Dynamics and transfers in complex fluids
-
Rheophysics of soft matter
-
Processes, shaping and intensification
