The Laboratory of Rheology and Processing is a joint research unit (UMR5520) involving the CNRS (Engineering Institute, sections 10, 9 and 11), Grenoble Alpes University, the Physics, Engineering, Materials (PEM) research cluster, and Grenoble INP - UGA.
Rheometry Platform
We host a Rheometry Platform open to external users and service provision in rheometry. It enables the characterization of the rheological properties of fluid and pasty materials at all scales and under various types of mechanical stress.

Role of liquid crystal behavior in achieving bioinspired orthotropic organization in NCC/PEGDA/Collagen suspensions.

Researchers at LRP have demonstrated the key role of liquid crystal behavior in achieving orthotropic organization of cellulose nanocrystals (NCC) within complex systems comprising a photopolymerizable polymer (PEGDA) and collagen.
Mohamed Aouay received the Tunisian Presidential Award for the Best PhD Thesis across all disciplines (2024 edition).

Towards bioinspired hydrogels mimicking the structure of articular cartilage

Researchers at LRP have successfully fixed a three-layer orthotropic structure, mimicking the organization of articular cartilage, in hydrogels composed of cellulose nanocrystals (NCC) and polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA).

The acoustic current at the origin of the vertical orientation of cellulose nanocrystals

Researchers from LRP, in collaboration with LEGI and ESRF, have demonstrated for the first time the phenomenon of Rayleigh acoustic streaming during the implementation of a process combining frontal filtration and ultrasound on a suspension of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC).
