Mohamed Aouay received the Tunisian Presidential Award for the Best PhD Thesis across all disciplines (2024 edition).

Mohamed Aouay’s ambition was to develop biodegradable plastics capable of providing concrete and sustainable solutions to the environmental challenges posed by traditional polymers. His research focused on improving the performance of biodegradable plastics through the incorporation of bio-based nanoparticles into PLLA as well as PBAT/starch blends. His thesis, entitled “Improvement of the Performance of Biodegradable Plastics via the Incorporation of Bio-Based Nanoparticles in PLLA and PBAT/Starch Blends”, is available online on HAL Thèses.

This doctoral work, carried out under a joint supervision agreement, resulted from a collaboration between Professor Sami Boufi (University of Sfax), Albert Magnin (CNRS Research Director, Laboratory of Rheology and Processing), and Jean-Luc Putaux (CNRS Research Director, CERMAV), supported by the UTIQUE program for Franco-Tunisian scientific cooperation.
